Role:

The Senior Major Gifts Officer cultivates, solicits, stewards and closes gifts from existing donors and prospects.  Responsible for generating $1 million or more in gifts annually.

 Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, relevant Masters preferred
  • Five years experience major gifts, or senior level development; healthcare philanthropy preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking and individual presentation skills
  • Well developed interpersonal skills
  • Computer software experience including Internet research, office products, presentation and relational database Familiarity with Raisers Edge software a plus
  • Valid Florida driver's license and automobile insurance according to Company policy
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Highly organized; able to effectively manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Goal oriented, self motivated
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Must be highly energetic professional with a track record of building, nurturing and closing gifts in the six figure range
  • Understanding of healthcare industry and nonprofit organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and documentation of follow-up

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a mentor and work strategist to maximize overall production to enhance overall major gift efforts for health system
  • Develop specific individual strategy for cultivation of major donor solicitation and manage on-going relationships with major donors
  • Manage a portfolio of primary prospects for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship with a gift potential individually of $25,000 or more; multi-year pledge potential of $100,000 or more with a total portfolio potential of $1 million or more annually.
  • In coordination with Vice President of Development, develop major gift cultivation and stewardship activities and coordinate planned giving fundraising materials
  • Write proposals, articles, or other support materials, prepare oral or written reports, and make presentations as requested by Vice President of Development
  • Continue own professional development; maintain professional licenses and certifications
  • Assist with organizational events
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Vice President of Development
