Role:

Day-to-day responsibility for washing dishes, sanitizing dishes, carts, and tables, daily food prep for following shift, assist in serving of patients, daily cleaning and general cleaning as assigned by the EVS Lead, EVS Supervisor, or other management.

 

Qualifications:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is preferred
    • Prior related experience in hospital, hospice house, nursing home, and/or general dietary aide experience
    • Must possess technical proficiencies in dietary aide functions
    • Skill in the use of and care for dietary equipment including but not limited to convection oven, steam kettle, large mixer, robot coupe, blenders, dish machine, etc.
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Working knowledge of food service industry standards and regulations
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language conversationally
    • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance per Company policy for GSH staff
    • Ability to keep simple records and to follow simple step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to work with detergents and other cleaning chemicals used for custodial work without adverse reactions

 

  • Ability to constantly lift, pull, carry, and/or push objects weighing up to 55 pounds
  • Ability to stand, kneel, walk, climb, crouch or bend for long periods of time
  • For secondary housekeeping duties: skill in the use of and care for housekeeping equipment such as vacuum, dusters, chemical pumps, etc.

  • Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Remove trash and/or cardboard to exterior of building.
  • Share expertise with coworkers both formally and informally.
  • Carry out detailed instructions for several tasks. Guidance and instruction is always available and prior permission is required before changing the methods or steps used in the job's work.
  • Perform assigned dietary cleaning duties to various types of surfaces, floors, equipment to include, but not limited to, stainless steel and tables, plastic and metal carts, and all kitchen equipment.
  • Determine needed supplies and equipment, and relate that need to immediate Supervisor.
  • Prepare meals by warming, plating and garnishing.
  • Turn off all equipment and document accordingly at the end of each night.
  • Account for equipment and materials assigned.
  • Assist in training new employees for dietary department.
  • Responsible for thoroughly cleaning all equipment used after each use.
  • Report any injuries, both personal and witnessed, immediately to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Secondary Duties when assigned to Housekeeping to ensure the Hospice House is clean and neat:
  • Perform assigned housekeeping care to various types of surfaces, floors, equipment, wall surfaces, wall hangings, linens and towels, beds and all components thereof, laminate wood, hardwood, TV stands and tables, radios, plastic and metal carts.
  • Complete cleaning of each patient's room/bathroom daily.
  • Complete intense cleaning of each patient's room when no longer occupied by a patient and prior to a new patient being admitted to that room.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, dust, and refinish floors.
  • Carpet cleaning to include vacuuming, shampooing, and extraction.
  • Move furniture and small equipment to clear work area.
