The Hospital Inpatient Care Manager directly supervises all hospital inpatient staff. Ensures all inpatients are managed appropriately to a safe, effective, and timely discharge.  Effectively coordinates all A & B and observation patients including overseeing complex care cases to the appropriate care site.  Works collaboratively throughout all care sites to ensure prompt appropriate care from admission to discharge with excellent communication and transition plans.


  • Current Florida RN license with no restriction limitations
  • Bachelor's degree nursing or health-related field with strong clinical skills, preferably in hospice or oncology
  • Three (3) or more years of management experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Demonstrated skills and ability in: fiscal accountability, communication, interpersonal relations, problem solving, individual team motivation, planning and organizing, conflict resolution and other leadership qualities
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance per Company policy
  • Must be able to physically access any home in any area (i.e., navigate stairs, and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, etc.)
  • Able to remain calm and troubleshoot/handle patient/family crisis situations
  • Ability to manage the emotional stress of working with and caring for terminally ill patients and their families
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

        • Job Responsibilities:Administration
          • Interviews, selects, and hires all clinical personnel for the hospital inpatient team.
          • Evaluates the individual capabilities of each member of the team and takes appropriate action if discrepancy is recognized between capabilities and performance requirement. Identifies problem, provides appropriate counseling, instruction, or experience, as needed. Takes disciplinary action, when indicated, and makes a recommendation for termination, if required.
          • Facilitates the development of an appropriate orientation program for new employees and monitors new staff members in the adjustment process.
          • Responsible for all personnel assigned to the team and provides leadership to others who come to the team to provide services, visit or learn (i.e., students, physicians).
          • Attends and participates in managers' meetings, as requested.
          • Assists in developing standards; maintains and provides data related to productivity of team(s) weekly and monthly and reports same.
          • Evaluates patient care outcomes according to reports and procedures of the department.
            • Evaluates, in conjunction with the patient, family, significant others, and staff, the effectiveness of care relative to individualized goals and predefined outcomes.
            • Identifies improvement opportunities and collaborates management to implement corrective action.

                • Monitors documentation to assure all paper work is complete, accurate and timely.
                • Responsible for establishing team support, informally and formally.
                • Ensures that competencies are completed in a timely manner.
                • Facilitates discussions with leadership to promote communication between all disciplines.
                • Identifies educational needs of staff and coordinates resources to meet needs, such as use of Preceptor.
                • Evaluates cost and feasibility of all special orders per Company Policy and Procedures.
                • Participates in budgetary planning, preparation, control, and monitoring with the Clinical Administrator.
                • Ensures all pay class information is correct.
                • Assists in determining the appropriate financial classification of patients throughout their continuum of care (i.e., hospitalizations, revocations, etc.).

 Acts as clinical resource for Hospital Inpatient Team.

                  • Ensures that an up-to-date team daily report is available for team members.
                  • Responsible for Nursing Home placements when transferring from a Hospital Team to the Nursing Home Team according to policy and procedure, with appropriate pay class and paperwork completed timely.
                  • Responsible for the management of the team staff to ensure programmatic goals and objectives are met.
                  • Develops, implements and evaluates scheduling and staffing plans for individual team to ensure twenty-four (24) hour patient care availability.
                  • Develops systems which allow for consistent evaluation of nursing care provided in relation to the nursing requirements of patients.
                  • Develops staff's ability to determine/identify patient's clinical needs, such as:2.      Nursing Home placement              4.     Home
                  • 1.      Continuous Care.                          3.     Hospice House Inpatient Care
                    • Acts as liaison between team, physicians and patient/families to resolve issues and implement corrective action plans.Communication - Interpersonal Skills
                    • Determines agenda and conducts staff meetings for all hospital inpatient staff.
                    • Assures effective, cooperative, courteous and clear communication with team members, physicians, outside agencies, other departments, peers, in order to meet patient care needs.
                    • Monitors attendance of staff at discipline-specific meetings/in-services and department staff meetings.
                    • Implements conflict resolution techniques with team members, peers, and management to satisfactorily resolve differences.

    • Responsible to ensure that the Hospital Inpatient Team is complete, all documents required for the team are provided, recertification dates and periods are correct, and the team is developed to assist with this process.
    • Responsible for final review and approval on time sheets.
    • Collaborates with other departments to coordinate patient care needs.
    • Responsible for overseeing adequate medical supplies and DME are available for staff.
    • May take referral information and forward to Admissions staff.Other
