Provides the organization with expertise and recommendations to guide the development of respiratory therapy activities and the selection of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies for HPC Healthcare subsidiaries. Acting as a consultant for clinical and medical staff, he/she is responsible for researching and introducing best practices in respiratory care. Participates in planning and priority setting relative to respiratory therapy, working with Company leadership to establish/refine evidence-based protocols, policies and procedures for the care of patients receiving complex respiratory therapies. Performs assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and education of patients with pulmonary dysfunction. Recommends patient treatment options to medical and nursing staff to promote optimum cardiopulmonary function and symptom control.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
Working knowledge of home respiratory equipment and medical supplies including but not limited to:
ventilators, BIPAP, CPAP, liquid oxygen, suction, oxygen concentrators, nebulizer therapy.

Strong critical thinking skills and in depth knowledge of underlying pathophysiology.
Ability to work unsupervised in the field, exercising a high degree of discretion and independent judgment.
Well developed interpersonal skills: ability to problem solve with staff, while maintaining excellent working relationships.
Able to communicate clearly in English; bilingual ability is preferred.

Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves.
Ability to manage the emotional stress of working with and caring for terminally ill patients/families.
Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, lift 50 pounds) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Conduct advanced respiratory evaluation of patients, including subjective and objective assessment and diagnostic testing.
Determine the need for utilization of respiratory equipment and supplies including but not limited to:
BIPAP, CPAP, liquid oxygen, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, oral & intermittent suction, continuous pulse oximetry, ventilators; initiate and monitor use of equipment & supplies.
Assess the patient's residence to insure an environment of care conducive to the proper delivery of the required respiratory services and care.
Recommend and assist in development of applicable patient/family education materials.
Make recommendations for respiratory treatments and care based on patient assessment and own professional expertise.
Participate in discharge planning/complex patient conferences for patients requiring sophisticated respiratory therapies.
Evaluate treatment effectiveness, patient compliance and safety issues and recommend changes as indicated.
Provide routine follow-up and monitoring as required.
Provide input into policies, procedures and processes related to respiratory treatments and interventions.
Collaborate with other health care professionals to establish/revise care protocols.
Research and introduce current information relative to care of patients with pulmonary disease.
Provide patient/caregiver education to include but not limited to: respiratory equipment use and maintenance, respiratory medications and treatments, energy conservation, home safety and oxygen safety.
Develop educational materials and presentations for nursing/medical staff on complex respiratory equipment and treatments.
Prepare and maintain required documentation for each assigned patient.
Complete documentation in a timely manner and distribute to the appropriate parties.
Collaborate with Director of Nursing Practice Standards, supervisor, medical staff, and IDG regarding patient treatment, medical condition, and home environment to ensure continuity of care.
