  • Overview

    Role:

    The ETL Architect’s responsibilities include designing and developing data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process to migrate data from the source systems into the Data Warehouse Star Schemas, then process into the SSAS logical models (tabular and multi-dimensional) with lineage traceability and ensuring data quality (both quantitative and qualitative) using SSIS and transact SQL. Map complicated solution systems data (clinical, financial, EHR/EMR) into abstracted logical models.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science preferred but may be substituted by 8 years relevant work experience
    • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in developing Business Intelligence and data transformation solutions
    • Minimum three (3) years’ administrative, patching, and development experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence software
    • Minimum three (3) years’ with advanced skills in Schema Design and Data Modeling concepts
    • Knowledge of how to consume SOAP and REST service to migrate data in from Web Applications
    • Advanced skills in data quality measuring and logging (DQS, Data Profiling, MDM)
    • Knowledge of and practical experience in Data Governance concepts
    • Senior level experience with Relational Databases, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling and related design preferably in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or greater (minimum 3 years)
    • Senior level experience with ETL environments such SSIS or TALEND including the ability to extend and create advanced logging
    • Ability to effectively interface with various staff, managers and executives
    • Strong customer service skills with good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
    • Preferred: Knowledge of BIML, C# and ESB (Enterprise Service Bus)Competencies:

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop and support a reference architecture to move data from solution systems into the data warehouse and SSAS instances. This includes implementing a structure to:
      • Determine traceability and lineage of data through the process, accounting for quantitative and qualitative changes, data leakage, etc.
      • Design and implement standards to modularize the process using high cohesion and low coupling to allow easy restarts anywhere along the process.
      • Create a structure to make visible the flow of data and time of packages so the nightly process schedule can be easily understood and modified, along with alerting processes when tolerance boundaries are exceeded.
    • Design structures around permission and groups to keep PII private, including using SQL 2016 encryption standards and AD permissions.
    • Participate in the design of data marts to support complex multi-dimensional reporting and data analysis.
    • Design, implement and support the Microsoft BI reference infrastructure (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power-BI) ensuring the packages are up-to-date, with appropriate levels of security and communication between the different elements.

    • Assist and teach other team members on ETL and logical modeling concepts to adhere to architecture design and standards.
    • Assist the Manager in the supervision of Contractors to make sure they are staying on task and meeting project requirements and date deliverables.
    • Foster and enable data governance for the Organization, including Data Dictionary and Glossary of new elements, Data Quality, Data Traceability and Data ownership throughout the transformation process.
    • Participate in CIT “On Call” rotation.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
