  • Overview

    Role:

    The Medical Office Associate, in addition to providing administrative support to the offsite palliative care clinics, he/she also provides administrative support at the home office.

     

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required with an Associate’s degree or higher preferred
    • A minimum of one (1) year of administrative experience in a clinical setting
    • Prior experience in healthcare field
    • Prior experience in a contact center environment and/or staff scheduling and/or clinical patient care experience strongly preferred
    • Skilled in computer operations. Proficiency in MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), on-line research and proven data entry and navigation skills
    • Demonstrated excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize demands, meet client service standards and deadlines
    • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
    • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
    • Well-developed writing and editing skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
    • Experience in Health Information Management (HIM) using electronic health records preferred
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising some discretion and independent judgment
    • Mobile Driver - Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policyCompetencies:

    •  
    • Assists patients and staff while onsite at the palliative care clinics, including greeting and scheduling patients, bookkeeping all payments received from patients, and supporting clinical staff.
    • Handles palliative care and clinic phone calls by ensuring timely responses to patient/family calls for hospital/clinic patients, appointments, or prescription refills.
    • Supports Palliative HIM Tech by performing record maintenance; timely patient account creation from face sheets and referral creation to billing.
    • Ensures daily visit capture of patient census, record capture, coding and billing function reconciliation.

     

     

    • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of Palliative Care’s medical records in accordance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Provides administrative support to the Director of Palliative Care on special projects.
    • Provides cross coverage for administrative staff.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
